Services You Can Access Without a GP Appointment
There are lots of services that can be accessed directly by people in East Lothian. These include pharmacy, physiotherapy, optician, mental health, dental and local nursing team services. We have links for some of these on this page, alternatively follow this link to East Lothian Council
Appointments System
All surgeries for both doctors and practice nurses are by appointment only. You will be asked questions by the receptionist to guide you to the most appropriate appointment.
Please phone 01368 861435 to arrange an appointment with them.
The doctors consult at the following times:
- Dr Catriona Campbell: Monday and Thursday
- Dr John Ellis: Tuesday(PM), Wednesday, Thursday(AM) and Friday
- Dr Catharine George: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
- Dr Michael Slowey Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
- Dr Alisa Halmshaw: Monday, Wednesday
We aim to see all patients requesting an appointment within one week or sooner if their medical problem warrants this. If you wish to see a particular doctor on a routine matter you may have to wait longer than this.
Practice Nurses
In some of cases it might be worth considering an appointment with a practice nurse rather than a doctor. Practice nurses are qualified to deal with many conditions and you may be seen more quickly.
Home Visits
If someone is too ill or disabled to come to the surgery we will visit them at home. In many cases someone can be seen more quickly if they are brought to the surgery. If you are telephoning for a visit please give some details of the illness to the receptionist so that we can plan the urgency of the visit. It also helps if requests for visits can be made before 10am please.
You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby.
RVS Scheme
Housebound patients who are unable to attend the surgery because of transport problems can phone 01875 811011 to request transportation to the Practice via the RVS GP Transport Scheme.
To Cancel or Rearrange an Appointment
To ensure appointments are not wasted we would ask you to make every effort to contact us if you cannot attend your scheduled appointment. If you have made the appointment using our online services you can cancel or re-arrange by logging back in and making changes from there. Otherwise you can call our reception team on 01368 861435 and they will be happy to make the changes for you.
Text Reminder Service
We have an SMS / text service which allows you to receive confirmations and reminders about your appointments. Many patients will already be registered for this service but if if you are not and want to be included please ask at reception / telephone us and we'll update your records.
